Siesta Key Farmer’s Market
Every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Siesta Village hosts the Siesta Key Farmer’s Market. Located at 5104 Ocean Blvd. this market offers local organic produce and other products, candles, jewelry, tea, apparel, coffee, food and other items. It’s a great way to get to know residents and take home something local.
Mote Marine World Oceans Day Family Festival
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, Mote Marine Aquarium will celebrate World Oceans Day. This holiday highlights the importance of the earth’s oceans and their connection to the human spirit. The family-friendly event will feature live interactive and educational shows, musical performances and face painting, along with access to the aquarium’s exciting exhibits, which include manatees, sharks and more than 100 species of marine life. This celebration is free with general paid admission to Mote Aquarium and to Mote members.
Sarasota Music Festival
The annual Sarasota Music Festival will be held from June 1 through June 22 at the Sarasota Orchestra and Sarasota Opera House. This three-week celebration of classical music showcases some of the nation’s most talented musicians in a variety of public performances. The festival will also feature rising stars in the classical music industry along with more established talents. More than 500 students from top musical schools audition for the festival but only around 50 are accepted.
Sarasota Slam-Fishing Tournament
The 2019 Sarasota Slam Fishing Tournament will be held from Thursday, August 8 to Saturday, August 10 at Marina Jack. The tournament includes billfish and fun fish divisions, inshore and offshore, along with a junior division for kids. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners in each category. Even if you’re not a fisherman, you’ll still have a blast watching others compete! Or, you can take part in the silent auction and the dockside BBQ and party.
